The Unexpected Impact of Health Care Reform

We have all felt and continue to feel the impact of health care reform. Some of the obvious areas impacted are the costs of coverage brought about by the mandates which require health plans to cover more and changes like expanded coverage for dependents.

There are areas that have been affected by health care reform that may not be so obvious. The Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service continue to roll out regulations. These regulations have created increased notice obligations that will require plan sponsors to revise enrollment materials, summary plan descriptions ("SPD"), and other plan documents. Plan sponsors must ensure that their increased notice obligations are met in a timely manner. Failure to respond to these required notices can result in significant financial penalties.

Accountability in Performance: Expectations, Shortcomings, Success Online Resources

Performance is about accomplishing something. Adding employees to performance can present challenges if an employee is unmotivated, lacks focus due to personal problems, needs training or doesn’t have a clear picture of job expectations.

If any of these scenarios sound familiar, chances are you aren’t thrilledwith your current employee performance review process or you may not have one. Holding employees accountable and measuring performance is something we all know we “should” do, but may not because it’s time consuming and we think it does little to change employee behavior overall.

Learn how the employee performance review process is streamlined and impactful. It becomes simple for managers to agree upon goals and skills with the employee, which becomes a win-win situation. With clearly outlined goals, the process benefits BOTH the individual and the organization by creating happier, satisfied employees that are more productive.
